Reformed iCan'ts

Just wondering out loud, can an iCan't be reformed? (Don't know what I am talking about - read earlier postings.) In other words, can an iCan't honestly become an iCan?

I believe it is possible. I believe it is more possible when the iCan't is not an elected official or politician. If a normal, regular person that has been an iCan't has an open mind or a life changing experience that opens their eyes, I believe that they can be saved. I do not see any reason that an honest transformation would not possible. This would be an awakening, for sure; but that kind of thing happens in this great country on a daily basis. They see or hear something that shatters their preconceived ideas and BAM, they see the light! Of course, the light is the truth of Conservatism. All of a sudden, things start making more sense and they begin to take on conservative principles as a guide to how they see the political climate in America. They no longer call themselves "Moderates", but are proud to be a member of the "right-wing" of the iCan Party. In other words, they grow a backbone. (A Moderate is someone who cannot make up their mind as to whether they are conservative or liberal - in other words, they are clueless.)

An iCan has a whole different view of America than iCan'ts or cRats. iCans see a land of opportunity, cherish their freedoms and liberties, enjoy the challenge of potential success, and do not run from individual responsibility. We iCans love the USA, God, and family. We guard free speech rights and we guard our homes with the rights in the Second Amendment. We do not have class envy and we do not want someone else's wealth spread around. We believe that if some guy earned a fortune, more power to him. We are not waiting, as a bunch of victims, for the Government to save us. In fact, we want the Government to stay out of our lives. We believe the Government has a place - guard our great nation against attack and protect the citizens while they experience life, liberty and pursue happiness. We are willing to share our bounty, as a matter of our choice, but greatly resent someone taking from us to give to someone else.

So, what about the elected official or politician? There are probably a few exceptions, but most of them are willing to say and do whatever they think you want to hear in order to get your vote. It seems that once they get elected, they can no longer be trusted. Politicians that flow back and forth following the current breeze that blows through Washington, cannot be believed. If they are up for re-election, listen to their speeches. One day they are catering to moderates and sounding like cRats. The next day, with a different audience, they sound like an iCan. So, when an iCan't starts insisting that they see the light, hold onto your wallet and no early voting! I can guarantee that once they have your iCan vote, they will go back to get the iCan't votes.

A good example of this is our dear Senator John McCain. He has been a RINO iCan't for most of the past eight years. Then, during the campaign, he tells us he has seen the light, he has heard the voters and he has changed. Was it true? No. He just wanted your vote. Now that he is not running, he is back wanting Comprehensive Immigration Reform (aka: amnesty and unprotected borders). It truly is hard to teach an old dog new principles.

What are we to do? There are two things we can do. First, we iCans need to be teaching and training others and the next generation the values we hold so dear. We need to be passionate about the principles our founding fathers built this country upon. We need to understand why Conservatism is the best way to go, always has been and always will be. We need to be vocal about saving a system based on free-market capitalism. We need to work to see that future generations have the opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest of their potential.

Second, we need to kick the cRats and iCan'ts out of Washington. There may be a few, honest iCans left there, but almost ALL of them need to go back home and let's fill Washington with fresh faces who love America and want to protect the nation from Liberalism and Socialism. I believe there are good, honest citizens who are willing to go to Washington in service to their country and not for personal gain. Those who will go for a term or two and then come back home to take up where they left off. In other words, I believe there are non-professional politicians who are not looking for a career in D.C.

Folks, each of us must do our part or soon it will be too late.

It is war! We are engaged in a war to save America! We can fight and win or watch and lose!

Remember: They were at war with us but we were not at war with them! - What does that mean? It means that we are behind. While we were the sleeping iCan'ts, the enemy (cRats) were already in battle. They waged war on "God Bless America" a long time ago. We did not take it as a serious threat to our way of life. It was and is! It is time to catch up and fight hard, the enemy is entrenched (public schools, universities, unions, minorities, unemployed, all levels of government, Hollywood, etc.). We can win this battle; but it will be a long, hard fight.

BO the cRat Dictator

Yes, I used the "D" word!

More and more, BO is sounding like the boss of everyone and everything. He is assuming a ruling position over more and more of our lives and free market businesses, everyday. This was starting to sound like a dictator. So, I looked on Dictionary.com and found the following:

Dictate: 1-to prescribe or lay down authoritatively, command unconditionally; 2-to give orders; 3-an authoritative order or command; 4-to prescribe with authority, impose; 5-to control or command.

Dictator: 1-a person exercising absolute power; 2-a person invested with supreme authority during a crisis; 3-a person who authoritatively prescribes conduct, usage, etc.; 4-a ruler who is unconstrained by law; 5-a person who behaves in a tyrannical manner.

You may have heard the "slip of the tongue" BO made around the time he took office. He referred to himself as he was beginning to "rule". I guess no one told him the President is not the same as a King. Whatever happened to the concept of elected officials being "public servants"?

You may be thinking that I am off base, that dictators are not elected. Wrong - I am sorry to tell you this, but we just elected a dictator and he is running wild with POWER and CONTROL.

"The Toilet"

For some of you, the title of "The Toilet" may be a little confusing. For others, you have a good idea where I am going with this. You see, there is one toilet that holds a special place in my life, it is "The Toilet", or in my family circle, it is known as the toilet bowl experience.

This story actually begins around June of 1949, but our story will take place in March of 1950. That is the period of time when my Mom was expecting me. In order to have some help with the time around the delivery, Mom went to Winslow, where her Mom lived. When it seemed that my birth was eminent, Mom was checked into the hospital - you know, just to make sure all went well.

The next part is where it gets a little interesting and I can only relay what I have heard and the little bits and pieces I can remember (get it?). Well, it seems that the good doctor had plans to play golf and my delivery looked like it may interfere with his tee time. So, he gave my Mom something to induce labor. Don't be too quick to judge him, playing golf in Winslow is not something you get to do everyday and I understand that you have to reserve a tee time minutes in advance.

The inducement began to work it's wonders. At the same time, Mom felt the need to visit the toilet - yes the same, famous one! While sitting there minding her own business, all of a sudden, I decided to drop onto the scene. Well, you can imagine what a splash I made. I guess, if there was ever a time that someone like me would pray for a breech delivery, this was it. But, no way!

(Just a side note - I was not sure if breech was breech or breach so I checked with Dictionary.com. I first tried breach and found it to mean a breaking of water as one definition. So, even though I was not a breech delivery, I still was a breach delivery.)

So, back to the story. As Mom went into shock, a nurse yelled, "heads-up everyone"; well, almost everyone. Quick action rescued an eight pound floater and when all was said and done there was a 10% discount on the doctor's bill for the deliver charge. So, all's well that ends well.

Mom, thanks for not flushing!

P.S. The rumor is that the good doctor made his tee time but did not have a great game.

The Third Adam

I Cor. 15:45 (paraphrased) "The first man Adam was made a living soul; the second Adam was made a life giving spirit." The third Adam was made one of my grandsons.

Today was one of those days that I was reminded of just how much my family means to me. Sandee and I had the privilege of baby sitting Tyler and Adam from 6:30 AM (on a Saturday morning) until noon. Yes, it was a privilege. Both Dennis and Ashley had to work the same hours this morning and we got a chance to watch and enjoy the boys. This was only the second time this has happened. The first was a "date night" a few months ago. Adam cried almost all the time they were gone. The first time away from both at the same time is pretty traumatic. This time went better. After a little play time, a walk around the house, some food, a changed diaper (Sandee was up by now) and a few other attempts to appease the little fellow, Tyler took him and he fell right to sleep in his arms. The problem was, we could not get him laid down without waking him up. So, mean ol' Grandpa decided that it was time for Adam to cry himself to sleep. Sometimes I just decide that a battle is one I will win. It took awhile and some persuasion to keep Tyler from rescuing him, but before long he was sound asleep.

Dennis worked until 4PM and Ashley stayed at our house until I took them to Tyler's two basketball games. What a joy to witness him growing and playing and becoming such a fine boy. Before the games; Ashley, Tyler, Adam and I went for a walk. I carried Adam, who spent the whole time watching our shadows on the pavement. He was fascinated with that.

Ashley is such a great Mom and Dennis a great Dad. They are raising two fine boys. We watched the first game before Dennis arrived, wearing his deputy uniform and looking so official and proud.

I am a blessed and happy man!

Velcom to da U.S.S.A.

I hope you enjoyed your stay while in the great U.S.A. You are now leaving that country and entering the U.S.S.A. - United Socialist States of America.

In this new country, the rules are different from the "old country". The USSA was founded on "Hope" and "Change". It is full of rhetoric, promises, lies, deception, distortion and destruction. Some of you may recognize that as being different from the founding principles of the late USA.

I remember the good ol' days when a man's word was his bond, in fact it was better than today's contracts. And there was something about shaking a man's hand to seal a deal. The neighbors actually knew each other and looked out for each other and their kids. Doors were not always locked on your home because there was no need. Privacy and Rights were respected. Most people went to church on Sunday. Most people claimed to be Christian. English was the official language. Soldiers were respected and honored. Public schools were not places of liberal indoctrination and actually taught American History in a way that made you proud of your country. Most Americans were proud of being a part of the greatest nation on Earth and were ready to defend it against all attacks, both foreign and domestic. But, domestic attacks were almost unheard of because people were different then - different in how they thought and what they believed.

In the USSA, class envy runs rampant, the rights of the individual are giving away to the masses, self-dependency is replaced by dependency upon Government. National pride has been replaced with white guilt. Achieving and prosperity are now frowned upon by the socialist masses. Spreading the wealth is an accepted policy. Divide and conquer is a political strategy. Wiping out the middle class is an elitist goal.

There was a time when the Constitution was taken at face value. Now it is a "living document", subject to the changing times, if it is considered at all. The Federal Courts were places of justice for all. Now they are full of liberal justices who use their unconstitutional powers to legislate from the bench. Private enterprise was the norm and you reaped the rewards of your labor or suffered the consequences of your failure. Now, failure is rewarded with taxpayer money along with Government control and success is penalized with ridicule and heavy taxation. "In God We Trust" was not questioned and was something we actually meant. Now, our courts (see above) have decided that "God" has no place in public places and for sure not in decision making by our new leaders. "One Nation Under God" was an acknowledgment of fact and gratitude. Now it is mocked and believers are treated as fools. Soldiers who were returning from war received ticker tape parades and a hero's welcome. Now, people protest at the funeral of soldiers and make fun of their sacrifice. Political parties have always had differences and elections were won and lost by popular vote of legally registered voters. Now, voter fraud is commonplace with little or no adverse consequences and it is evident that the liberal wing of the cRats has been at war with the conservative wing of the iCans for decades.

Yes, we have entered a new era. The old Republic still has a pulse. It is not yet dead. The cRats are moving as fast as they can to take it off of life support, but have not yet succeeded. There is a wave of patriots rising up across this great land that are willing to stand up and fight to save the USA. Not all Republicans are iCans, but there are a bunch of us who are. This greatest of great nations is worth fighting for to preserve it for future generations. If we, at this time, do not do what it takes to defend her from the present, domestic attack, she will be dead, forever. I believe it was one of our country's founders who said, "A liberty lost is lost forever." We are seeing our liberties being attacked on a weekly basis. This is no accident, it is intentional. Free speech is for those who agree with liberals. Having guns is for the government controlled forces, only. The privilege of voting has been extended to the dead, to felons, to illegal immigrants, and multiple votes by and for the same person is OK with cRat backed organizations, such as Acorn.

It is time to educate ourselves, take a stand wherever we find ourselves, and, while we still can, speak out and demand this current outrage be stopped in it's tracks.

Let's not get to this:

Proposed 2010 Federal Budget

BO is making the rounds to gin up support for his first Federal Budget. He is asking for approximately 3.6 trillion dollars, that is $3,600,000,000,000. For round numbers, lets assume the new census will show America with 360,000,000 people. It will most likely be less than that. The budget would equal $10,000 per person in the country - that is every single man, woman and child. We have heard that almost half of the people do not pay any Federal taxes. That means that for someone who makes enough to owe income taxes, their share would be $20,000. Husband and wife together = $40,000 on the average, share of the spending proposed for just one year.

To get a perspective on how much money we are talking about, let's compare it with the one dollar bill. A dollar bill measures 6"x2.625"+-. That equals 1.3125 square feet per dollar bill. It would take 21,240,686 dollar bills to cover one square mile. One billion dollar bills will cover 47.08 square miles. One trillion dollar bills will cover 47,079 square miles. The number of dollar bills needed to pay the proposed budget will cover 169,486 square miles. That is equal to a square that is 411 miles times 411 miles.

So just how big is that: it is larger than Arizona (113,998 square miles)...it is even a little larger than California (163,696 square miles). It is the size of Washington and Oregon combined - 169,808 square miles.

If you took 3.6 trillion dollar bills and laid them end to end, you could go around the world, at the equator, over 13.6 times.

At 5% interest on the budget amount, the interest only would amount to $5,708 per second.

Now, aren't you glad BO promised to reign in wasteful spending! Oh, just a reminder, all of those bailouts and stimulus bills passed over the past year do not count as part of the budget. They add several more trillion dollars to the spending spree. Has all of this made you feel stimulated?

War on T----R!

Have you heard? The official stance of our dear Government is that we are not to use the phrase, "War on Terror" any longer. From now on, a terrorist attack on this country will be called "a human caused disaster". In my humble opinion, we are watching a "human caused disaster" almost daily on the television, lying to our face and stealing our money and ignoring our Constitution and denying our Rights.

The Right to pursue Happiness - There is no Constitutional right or guarantee that you will attain Happiness. We are to be free to pursue those avenues that may bring us to a level of happiness, which will be different for various individuals. This is not something that we look to government to supply or make happen. This is something that we expect government to stay out of the way and let us experience our Right and enjoy the potential rewards.

WE HAVE these Rights - they were given to us by GOD! The Government does not have the right to take away or limit any of these rights. When they step outside of their limited power and exercise a position to decide which rights we can or cannot enjoy, they not only are going against the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, but they are usurping a position that they believe they can get away with and that position is one that claims to be above the GOD that created us and gave us those rights.

HUSBANDS ONLY

I thought it might be a good idea to share ideas and ask for better ideas - husband to husband.

The question - How, specifically, do you encourage your wife? What do you do to or for her that shows your support for her and your backing of her? Tell us what works well for you, but more importantly, for her.

Who's Afraid of the Big Bad ....Rat?


As explained in an earlier post, the Democrats are now aptly named the "cRats", as there is nothing about democracy left with the positions they are taking.
So, where are the Republicans and should they also take on a new name? In following the same formula as with the cRats, the Republicans could be called the "iCans".
But, does anyone, currently, buy that? I don't. It seems that most of the iCans, become iCan'ts, as soon as they get to Washington.
Why is it that someone runs for office sounding like a Conservative, but as soon as they get elected, there is no hint of conservatism left in the bills they sponsor or evidenced by their voting record? We send someone to Congress to speak for us, the regular people back home. As soon as they get there, they begin worrying about getting re-elected. Right and wrong, black and white, and even Constitutional or not; do not seem to be the issues with them anymore.
In the 1990's, iCans spoke up and took the majority control of Congress. They did this by pledging to support Conservative principles (The Contract for America). Not a lot got done as there was a cRat in the White House, but at least they kept some level of balance in the Government. Then, to great relief, an iCan was elected President in 2000, at the same time as Congress was controlled by iCans. Wow, what an opportunity to get some good, solid Conservative principles implemented into bills and then into law! Did the iCans do it? No, they became iCan'ts. "We don't have a 60 vote majority in the Senate", "We only have a slim majority so we feel it would be appropriate to reach across the aisle and share committee chairmanships with the other side", "We need a comprehensive, immigration policy" (aka: amnesty), "Let's let the cRats write the education bill", "Let's do campaign finance reform", "Let's spend just like the cRats and then maybe they will like us", "Let's grow the size of Government, that always works", and on and on and on...
So, the first opportunity in two decades to actually shift the direction of Government in a more logical, intelligent, patriotic, and Constitutional direction; was squandered. We ended up with a majority of iCan'ts who were afraid to stand up and take strong stands for Conservatism. They would not challenge the cRats who "threatened to filibuster" their bills. "OH NO! They might filibuster! We better give up and let them have what they want!" The iCan'ts ended up being a bunch of spineless wienies. They were so afraid of the cRats that they waisted eight years of possibility. They were so pathetic and weak looking that the country rejected them and took the only other choice - cRats. Now, the cRats and media are trying to convince us that it was a defeat of Conservatism. They wish! At the same time, last fall, that the cRat, BO, was leading in the campaign; a poll showed that a majority of Americans identified themselves with being conservative. I believe, with all my heart, that if a Conservative had been running as an iCan, he would be sitting in the Oval Office and we would not be having a steady stream of "bailout of the week" bills. We would not be planning on sitting down with Iran to see how we can compromise with them. (Have you ever noticed that when we sit down with an enemy who is set on our destruction, and we reach a compromise, we end up sending them $$$$ and goods in exchange for a promise that ALWAYS gets broken once they obtain $$$$ and goods from us?)
Just a warning...Do not get too excited about the Conservative sounds coming from the iCan'ts in Washington. Most of them know that they must sound conservative in order to get re-re-re-elected. This is the same bunch, for the most part, who wanted nothing to do with Conservative principles a few months and years ago. Even McCain is trying to sound Conservative right now. He has to be worried that his days in the spotlight are almost over. We in AZ are sick and tired of this RINO. Do not trust them, we do not need to send them back, again; we need to send to D.C. some new faces who are grounded and principled in the issues that made America the greatest nation on Earth, ever!

The Perfect Storm

We are faced with a situation that rivals rare occurrences, such as "the perfect storm", the aligning of the planets, or someone making a profit in the stock market. The current political climate could be likened to three, "category 5" hurricanes converging on poor New Orleans at the same time.

We have the Federal Government being totally controlled by left-wing radical, extremely liberal, socialist Democrats (aka: cRats - as there is nothing the resembles democracy in their program for America). The sun is shining a fading glimmer of light through a somewhat evenly divided Supreme Court. But, even that small light will be short lived. BO can hardly wait to begin naming replacements to the bench. The storms that have been building on the horizon over the past few decades have suddenly burst on the scene with tremendous force and destruction. Nothing and no one is safe in their path. The attacking flood has caused the dam to burst and the dismantling and destruction of our Constitutional rights, our liberties, our savings and investments, our free speech, our Capitalist form of an economy, and others; has begun in earnest.

The cRats hit the ground with all four feet running. They have accomplished a level of deception upon much of the American population, with the help of the media. They have found themselves in charge of the pantry, they have scattered in every direction and see no end to the power they can heap upon themselves.

Remember, stay focused on the real issues - the ones that affect our future and that of our kids and grandkids. Do not be deceived by clever distractions. If you look close, you will see their little, red, beady eyes in all the dark places. Their little claws and sharp teeth are designed to tear apart and destroy those things precious to you.

Also, remember, they have been at war with us but we were not at war with them!

Diversionary Tactics

There is a lot of distraction. It is all around us. It is in our homes, it is where we work, it is in or on the media, it is especially in politics. Some of it is just a part of life and some of the distraction is intentional. The latter has been designed to keep us focused on things, people, or issues that are not the real problems. Some would call these, "diversionary tactics".

I believe that a lot of what is making headlines today are intentional distractions. We are witnessing the largest political power grab in the history of our nation. We are seeing money spent like never before, by our government. We are watching the liberals ram through a "wish list" that has to have been several years in the making. They are passing bills and signing them into law at a speed that boggles the mind. They are spending the next generation's money to pay back political favors. They are able to do this using catch phrases and distractions. An example of a "catch phrase" is, "Stimulus Package". After beating the economy over the head for months, they hurry bills through the legislature - skipping committee hearings, not having transparency to the public, limiting debate, prohibiting amendments from the Republicans while they load the bills with unrelated spending and pet projects, rushing votes before anyone (and I mean ANYONE) has the opportunity to actually read the bill in order to know what is honestly being voted on and what might be the consequences of passage. They get away with this by calling the whole thing a Stimulus Package.

They proclaim that this MUST be passed right now or utter doom will be the result of any delay. They make wild promises as to how this will stimulate the economy and get us on the right track. They use the words, trillion dollars, like they used to say million or billion. After all, they sound so much alike, what could be the big deal in the difference. Then, once passed, the economy is not affected in a positive way and they do another "Stimulus Package".

The other way they have been able to accomplish such horrendous attacks on our nation, the Constitution, and our liberties, not to mention our wallets; has been the diversionary tactics. The Democrat leadership is not only good at stirring up a crisis, but then using it as a distraction. While the public and media are outraged about the current week's crisis, they are busy behind the scenes pushing through a liberal agenda that is changing our country away from the way it was founded and the way we are used to it operating.

Examples of recent "distractions of the week" are the overwhelming media coverage and political outrage over Rush Limbaugh stating that he hopes Obama fails. Anyone who takes the time to read the comment in context, knows exactly what he meant. He, like me, wants the socialism that he is cramming down our throats to fail. He wants him to fail at weakening our nation's defenses, to fail at solidifying a liberal power base that will keep them in control for decades. As that distraction ran its course, another was needed. The most recent "distraction of the week" is the outrage over the bonuses being paid to AIG executives. For the most part, the media is not outraged over the Treasury Department channeling over $90,000,000,000 (that's billion) of our money to European banks to help "bail" them out. They are not up-in-arms over AIG needing another "bailout" (this is the third or fourth bailout for AIG, alone). What are they upset over, so much so that the real issues are not being scrutinized, the politicians and media are going after the executives who received the bonuses for which they were promised for the work they performed and which AIG was under legal contract to pay. While the President and Secretary of Treasury are grandstanding about their shock over the matter, we learn that these contracts and bonuses were no surprise to them at all and the last "Stimulus Package" had an amendment to exempt AIG from government controls over paying out these same bonuses.

The ones-in-the-know in Washington were not surprised by this recent turn of events, at all. We are seeing fake outrage and we are being distracted from what they are doing that will really affect us all in negative ways - gun bans, limiting free speech, national health care, increasing the power Unions have over job sites. Our liberties are under attack. Once we lose a liberty, it will be extremely hard to ever get it back. The size of Government is being increased in order to administer new welfare programs. The size of Government does not shrink, later, when a new President is elected - have you ever known the Federal Government to reduce it's scope of power and control over our lives?

As long as the politicians can keep the media and the public distracted from what they are really accomplishing, it will be much easier to get it done and done in haste. Get real, do you really think these people in Washington care about a few million dollars going to these executives? If they really cared, these "bailout" checks that are in the hundreds of billions of dollars would have some strings attached as to how and where the money could be used. They don't! They just want our scrutiny on anyone or anything other than themselves. Evil is being done where the light is not shining!

Stay focused, do not get distracted! When the Watchman on the wall is asleep or distracted, the enemy is creeping into the homes and attacking the citizens. Right now, you and I have to be our own Watchmen. We cannot afford to look away and be silent while our nation is basically being dismantled. When the media (whom I believe have many that are cooperating with the liberals and purposely distracting us) are making a big deal over some minor item, beware! Something else is going on that should have our concentration.

REMEMBER - THEY HAVE BEEN AT WAR WITH US BUT WE HAVE NOT BEEN AT WAR WITH THEM!

Fishing

Have you ever noticed how "fishing" brings out the best in stories?

It made me think about fishing, when my kids borrowed a couple poles from me tonight. They are headed to Roosevelt, tomorrow. I am sure, even before they go, that I will hear some tall tales when the poles are returned.

I think that I must be the only true fisherman that has not found the need to stretch a fishing tale. Truth is better than fiction!

I remember the first time I took my wife fishing. While she did not catch any - no, not a single fish - I caught multiple times as many as she did. The exact number seems to have escaped me, right now.

I remember taking her and Dennis to Roosevelt, several years ago, to catch Crappie and Bass during spawning. I figured that both of them needed the advantage of having the fish just sitting there, aggressively guarding the nests of fish eggs. While the two of them struggled to land more than a few apiece, I ran the trolling motor, directed them to better spots, gave them invaluable pointers, and at the same time landed numerous fish. I caught so many that I filled my well and had to help them fill theirs. Now, to my disappointment, neither one of them seem to remember the trip quite like I do. I guess the embarrassment of being beat so bad has caused memory lapse - poor things!

When the boys were young, we had an old boat that we took out to lakes around Phoenix. I remember catching numerous things, yes, while I was running the boat. It must have been really great for each of them to have been there to experience the show!

In order to preserve more fish for future generations, it has been awhile since I have gone. I do not believe anyone that knows me well will disagree that I am as good of a fisherman as I am a hunter. And that says a lot!

JESUS - The Son of Man

Approximately 80 times in the Gospels Jesus refers to himself as the "Son of Man" and no times do others call Him the Son of Man.

Approximately 25 times in the Gospels, Jesus is referred to as the Son of God, four of the times, He does it himself. One time He answers "yes" to the question as to if He is the Son of God. The other 20 times, someone else is calling Jesus the Son of God.

Why does Jesus emphasize his humanity?
What does his humanity mean to us?
What was he trying to get across to us?

Jesus came to Earth as the "God-Man". He was God, walking around in human form. He took on the form of man, with all its limitations. He lived and functioned as a man. He felt emotions and pain. He suffered, hungered, grew tired, learned, etc. just like any other man. He wanted to make sure we realized He is a man, not just God on Earth. As a man, without sin, He was able to pay the penalty for our sin. His sacrifice satisfied Justice.

(Php 2:3-8) Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

The Incarnation reveals the character of God clearer than anything else. He was not selfish or conceited. He was humble and put others first. He emptied Himself and became a servant. He humbled Himself through His obedience.

(Joh 1:14) And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The nature of Christ is the nature of God. He, as a man, was equal to God.

Jesus came to earth as a man to be the perfect sacrifice (a man without sin who would give himself for the sins of the rest of mankind), to reveal the nature of God to us, and to be an example for us to follow.

(Joh 13:15) "For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.

(1Ti 1:16) Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.

(1Pe 2:21-24) For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH; and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.

Men Holding Men Accountable

(Thoughts and quotes have been taken from the booklet:
“Accountability Among Men” by Bob Beltz, which is
a part of the “Men of Integrity” Series.)

“Most (men) want to change their patterns but don’t know how. If we try to spot the causes of their inconsistencies, we’d find that men fail for many reasons. The reasons range from indifference to God and inconsistent or nonexistent prayer and devotional times to anger, illness, and even fatigue. Though a better prayer and devotional life will help, resolving a basically spiritual problem often requires more for men who, because of fear, egoism, or cultural expectations, try to move through life alone. Men need to be accountable to other men.”

“Being accountable helps men to recognize that their actions have consequences and (helps them) to have both the courage and assistance to find lives of consistency.”

Men are to be accountable to other men. Paul held Peter accountable (Gal. 2:11-14). Vs. 11 – “But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.” Peter was acting different when he was with Jews and when he was with Gentiles.

Our Christian life is one of relationships. We, as men, need other men with whom we have a close relationship that can and does develop into one with accountability. Being in a position to hold another man accountable is a relationship that is earned. Accountability involves being responsible and liable.

We are to be growing in our spiritual walk and holding each other accountable for that growth. Having good sources of accountability is a critical part of a vital spiritual life.

There are three levels of accountability: First, to God. We will all be held accountable before God. Second, to our spouses. And third, to other Christian men.

The type of relationship it takes to grow into one with accountability requires fellowship. (Grk: koinonia – a sharing in common) “Authentic fellowship is a sharing of our life with another person who among other things has earned the right to hold us accountable. For men, this fellowship, on its deepest spiritual level, includes disclosure of our fears, failures, and hopes, as well as our successes.”

The following verses relate to an accountable relationship:

Pro 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.
Pro 27:9 Oil and perfume make the heart glad, So a man's counsel is sweet to his friend.
Pro 27:10 Do not forsake your own friend or your father's friend, And do not go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity; Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother far away.
Pro 27:17 Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another.
Pro 28:23 He who rebukes a man will afterward find more favor than he who flatters with the tongue.

This kind of relationship, man-to-man, requires the cultivation of several critical qualities:

Unconditional Love – “Accountability that impacts our lives with the life-changing power of the Spirit of God occurs within the context of relationships built on the foundation of God’s unconditional love… People must earn the right to hold you accountable; that right comes when you sense their unconditional acceptance of you. Then trust is possible.”
Availability – “…That’s what authentic friendship looks like. It requires a commitment of availability of our time, energy, and resources. Few friendships develop this level of commitment. When availability is present, accountability becomes empowered. You are willing to be accountable to someone who is willing to sacrifice and help you.”
Honesty – There must be a commitment to honesty, it is a requirement for this type of relationship. James 5:16 tells us to confess our sins to one another and pray for one another. Sometimes honesty requires confronting a friend. This can lead to conflict. Authentic relationships can grow through conflict. “Without honesty, accountability is a sham.”
Confidentiality – “Nothing kills the honesty in a relationship like a breach of confidence.” Confidence in confidentiality is a must.
Consistent Time Together – “Developing accountability relationships requires the investment of time and energy.”
Prayer – We must hold each other to be accountable in prayer. Intercession on the behalf of a brother is one of the greatest gifts we can give. “If I am going to take a role in holding a brother accountable, I also must be committed to praying for and with that brother about the very issues we share together.”

In the book, the author has a summary of a group he has been involved with. “We met together regularly in a spirit of unconditional love to help each other grow spiritually. We made ourselves available to each other and sought to be there for members of the group who were having a tough time. We were learning to be open and honest with each other. We held each other accountable for spiritual growth and lovingly yet firmly encouraged each other. We prayed for and with each other.”

Hillary was right!

Yes, I really wrote that and I really mean it. Hillary Clinton was right about one thing,

"We are Americans and we have a right to disagree with this administration or ANY administration!!!!"

Notice how the tune has abruptly changed? Now, we are to get behind and support the President.

Beware any time you hear a Democrat say that he is "reaching across the aisle". He is probably doing one of three things. He is either getting ready to hit you between the eyes, steal your wallet, or place a whoopee cushion in your seat.

When a Republican (McCain) says he is reaching across the aisle, be careful, he is getting ready to support a very liberal piece of legislation. Remember, political compromise means giving in and letting the opposition have what they want.

Econ 101

The current situation with the economy in our country demands that we, as the citizens and voters, have a basic understanding of Economics. We need to understand some of the financial ramifications of government interference in private business and over-control of the banking industry.

Supply and Demand are some of the basic concepts upon which our economy functions. They are not theories. They are as relevant as the Law of Gravity. This inter-working of S&D affects each of us on a daily basis. In an open market economy, one where the principles of S&D are free to adjust in relation to each other, with a little time, they tend to balance out to a healthy level. When they are artificially managed or controlled, the imbalance cannot correct itself and other factors, such as price, are affected. Many times these results become unintended consequences of the artificial controls imposed.

Our market economy is based on S&D. When there is demand, it becomes profitable for someone to meet that demand by adding to the supply. Strong demand with low supply causes rising prices. When demand slows down, an over-supply will result in lower prices. When the two are in balance, prices stabilize.

Demand cannot be controlled in the same way that supply can be manipulated. With limited supply, caused by artificial controls, prices will increase because demand is still present. This will continue, to a point where the much higher prices finally cause demand to subside. Those with demand will seek other areas with more affordable supply and the area with controls will suffer a loss of market activity and a reduction in the infusion of funds.

S&D function in all aspects of our economy. They are the main factors that determine price in raw materials, labor, land, housing, food, oil, education, interest rates, investments and etc. When allowed to fluctuate freely, shortages are made up by higher production or the infusion of more labor, money or materials. Over-supply causes money to be spent elsewhere, labor to relocate and factories to make other products or close down. A good example of S&D being manipulated by controlling supply is the recent price increases experienced by all of us at the gas pumps. OPEC artificially limited supply and drove oil prices higher. With the higher prices, demand decreased, prices began to stabilize allowing the supply to grow and lower prices were the result. The Federal Reserve Board artificially controls some aspects of money supply, driving up the cost of money due to continued demand. The result is a more expensive cost of borrowing, which transfers into many goods and services being more expensive. When they lower interest rates, it is to stimulate demand and hopefully the national economy.

The local real estate market experienced a shortage of supply of residential listings in 2005. The shortage was caused by very strong demand. The demand was caused by low interest rates and a very strong national economy. While supply was catching up to demand, prices rose sharply. The developers and contractors in the area were the vehicles that stepped up to attempt to add to the supply to meet the strong demand. If they had not done so, we would have experienced even higher prices and housing that was less affordable.

In 2006, the demand for housing began to slow. Prices became more stable and supply was given an opportunity to catch up with the demand. During 2006, the real estate market in Payson and the surrounding area returned to a more normal level. Prices were more stable and the supply of listings steadily grew. While home prices rose by 50%, in some cases, over a short period of time; wages did not correspond by the same increases. This left some to struggle with the cost of entry housing. As stated above, with some time and patience, a free market economy will reach a balance. As workers find they can no longer afford to live in the area, businesses will realize they must raise wages in order to attract the needed labor. With a passage of time, a new balance will be reached between income and cost. The higher cost of labor will result in a higher price for the product, which will be absorbed by the market if there is sufficient demand for the product. If there is not sufficient demand in the market to accept higher prices, this indicates the added supply being produced by the added labor is unnecessary. At this point the employer should scale back production to the level where the price can remain steady and the cost of required labor is affordable. All of these will balance themselves out in a free market economy.

When the free market is interfered with, the laws of supply and demand cease to function in a normal way and balance does not happen. Currently, we are seeing the result of the government messing with the lending process, banking industry and other aspects of the housing industry. We are seeing the results of government passing regulations that have hurt the auto industry.

Big government is not the answer to solving the current economic crisis. The best thing that could happen, in the long run, would be for the government to reverse much of what they have been passing, step back from trying to manage industry and control business, and let a free market begin to function. There will be short term pain, but long term gain. Right now, government is trying to avoid the unintended consequences of their prior actions. We would not be here if they had stayed out of the way in the first place. The same people who broke the system are now in charge of fixing it. They either do not understand what they are doing, or are doing it on purpose. Why would the do that? Power, control and money! It is not about fixing the problem, for them, it is about increasing their power and control over all of us and the money that comes along with being in that position.

Qualifiers

Have you noticed all the "qualifiers"? They are all around us: in politics, in finances, in job security, in relationships, etc. Everyone wants to qualify their statements. It makes everyone sound like an expert, but at the same time, leaves them an "out" if things do not go as predicted. A politician makes wild promises, but many of his qualifiers are "unspoken". It is a lot like religious people who offer up prayers with "unspoken requests". That one has always confused me. Might as well make the whole prayer, unspoken.

What about the qualifiers in security? The supervisor tells the employees that their jobs are secure, if ... Or the boy tells the girl that he will love her forever, unless ... (he changes his mind).

But, the main thing that got me thinking about qualifiers was a statement; no, it was even more than that, a compliment; made by my wife to me this morning. I find myself adding more qualifiers to my statements and noticing more of them from those around me. When I ask my parents, how are they doing? They tell me, "OK, for my age." When I am asked, how is work? I answer, "Pretty busy, for the economic circumstances." Or, when asked about my latest race, my reply, "I did not quite reach my time goal; but, it wasn't bad for my age."

But, when compliments have qualifiers, it makes me wonder what they are really thinking. You know me, I would never do that. I am so sensitive to the feelings of others. But when my wife tells me, "You look sexy,... for your age." What was she really trying to say? FOR MY AGE! I am pushing 60. I have seen other 59-60 year olds. There was nothing sexy about them. That level of achievement is not saying much. Did she mean that I still have 90% of the gusto, or did she mean, 5-10%? Any level would not be bad, FOR MY AGE.

My Oldest Son and His Wife

This is part two of "My Favorite People".

Wayne and Tandi celebrated their 14th anniversary, yesterday. I bet they are surprised that I even remember or know that. For that reason, I have chosen them to talk about in this post. Wayne is on a trip to California, attending a conference at his old church, right now, so there probably wasn't a lot of celebrating going on yesterday.

Wayne and Tandi married not long after getting out of high school. They immediately took off for places unknown, to begin the adventure of their life together. After a time in Wyoming and Montana, off they went to Alaska, for Wayne to attend Bible College. Several years and a few kids later, they moved to California for him to continue his Bible education in a seminary. Last May, after several more years and several more kids, he graduated.

The two of them, as one, have overcame very difficult situations, survived with very little, and at the same time, managed to grow into an good example of a couple who love God, love each other, and love their six children. They are doing an awesome job as parents and have some great kids that are a joy to be around.

Wayne spent around 12 years to get through is Bible education, all the time working hard to support his family and them reaching out as Christians to help others and minister to needs around them. He now pastors a small church in the north part of Idaho and seems to be enjoying every minute of his new adventure.

Tandi is a great Mom. She not only cares for the family, does home schooling, but also helps minister to others. She is also an example of a very Godly wife.

I am very proud of them, for the accomplishments they already have made, for the great family they are raising, and for their walk with God.

Wayne and I have our doctrinal "discussions" which I really enjoy. It's a little tough for me to admit that my son just may know a little more about these things than I do, so I won't. Instead, I will wait for him to admit that he finally sees it all my way. Wait and wait and wait...

To be "The Blessing"

The following has been adapted from a letter sent to my brother around three years ago:

Do you ever give it much thought about Vietnam, our generation, and not going? I do, and have for some time now. As I look back, I wish I had gone. I feel guilty for not doing my part as other young guys were doing their part and my part. Not once have I ever been made to feel like I let anyone down or has anyone ever said anything to me about why I did not go and fight. But, still, I feel like I should have. I know that I would not have made a difference in the outcome, but I may have made a difference for some one person, somewhere. Maybe I would not have made it back, but that would not have been worse than for all the others who did not come home.

As I lost my student deferment and was reclassified as I-A, just before the draft lottery (my sophomore year in college), I was nervous about being drafted. I did not want to go. When my birthday was drawn as #343, my thought was that they would be drafting women and children by the time they get to me. I was safe... I guess that it shows the importance of the lottery in my mind, since I still remember my number and watching the proceedings on the dorm TV with the rest of the boys my age, some 36 years ago.

I have had strong opinions about Vietnam and that war and they were not very positive. But, as I have learned over the past few years, much of what formed our opinions about the war was heavily slanted "news" designed to lead us to those negative thoughts. I guess that it is similar to what we see on much of today's media about Iraq. One negative story after another, until you hear a soldier or marine tell his story. When I hear a wounded soldier, from the hospital, missing a leg, say that his goal is to get back over there with his buddies; I am awestruck. They are living an experience that I cannot imagine. It is nice to be blessed but it must feel amazing to be "the blessing".

"War is Hell!" The more I learn about war, the more impressed I am with it's horror and the much more I am humbled by those who go and do the dirty work for the rest of us. We are watching another generation of the greatest young people this country has produced, ever. I think that this is one of the reasons it makes me so mad when I hear someone put down our military. They are unbelievable, awesome people!

I told my Dad, a few years ago, that I wish I had gone to Vietnam. His immediate response, "That would have been awful!" That surprised me as I thought he might have said something like "it would have been hard but I would have been proud" or something similar. His response was based on his experience in war. I will never have much of an idea as to what he went through, saw, and did. After 61 years, he still cannot talk about it without shaking, tearing up and his face going red at the fear of being forced to bring back those old and buried memories. As I would very much like to know his story, I cannot ask.

Now, at my age, I am still safe because of what others have done for me and my freedom. I am at the point in life where I cannot go fight a war, but I can stand up for our troops and appreciate, from the bottom of my heart, what they are doing for us each and every day. My hat goes off, my cheer grows loud and my hands sting from clapping as I try, in a feeble way, to show them just how much I honor them and thank them for their willingness to fight. They volunteer to go to that desert place and stand for freedom. They are willing to do what I was afraid to do. They have made the choice to take the chance of not coming home again; and they do it for you and me.

I write this with the most humble and sincere thanks to the men and women of our armed forces. From my computer, safe at home...

Less Is More

Sometimes, less is better than more, it is more better (get it?). That is the case with government. Less is much more better.

As we daily watch our Federal Government take measures and pass laws that are geared to greatly expand their control and power over us, their bosses; we have to wonder where and when will this stop? Our freedoms and liberties are being attacked. Is there a way to get a new mindset in Washington? Is it possible to have political leaders who honestly want what is best for the public and not for themselves? When was the last step taken to reduce the size of the government?

Today, the new Arizona Governor, Jan Brewer, told our congress that there needs to be a trillion dollars ($1,000,000,000,000) of new, "temporary" taxes to help the state get through the budget crisis. Clearly, it is more important to a politician to take our money to balance their budget than to let us have our money to balance our own. (Remember, we have a new Governor due to Janet leaving to protect all of us from her position as Homeland Security Secretary.)

Arizona, like many other states, has been hit hard, financially. They have taken several measures over past couple years that are typical of government when they want to justify more taxes on the people. Have you noticed that the "pet projects" always seem to survive budget cuts and how essential services, such as police and fire, get hit with cuts? This is no accident. It is a ploy to cut the areas that will most likely cause the people to rally and support. Then, the dear politician will be justified in raising your taxes so that essential services can remain at, or near, present levels.

You want an example? Arizona just closed some State Parks, last week. One is just outside of my town - Tonto Natural Bridge. This park brought in enough money in fees to cover the cost of keeping it running. It did not cost the state anything. It is a popular park and important to the economy of the small towns around the area. The threat - "we do not know if it will ever open again". This, of course, has many in the area rallying for a change in this decision.

Why was this park closed? It is said, to cut state expenses, but it did not cost the state any expense. In fact, you could argue that it made money for the state in the sales tax revenue generated by tourists who traveled to the area to visit the park. It was closed because it is popular and would cause an outcry from angry citizens. This, then can be used against us as a show of support for higher taxes, which of course would be spent on opening the park.

Child Neglect

We were so neglected, my brother and I, when we were young. We did not have video games, cell phones for "texting" everyone, quads, MP3 players, computers, etc. Until I was in elementary school, we did not even have a TV. Someone needs to be arrested for not meeting all of our "needs"! We did not have a phone in our bedroom, in fact the only phone (when I was little) was a wall-mounted model with a crank handle. Yes, just like you have seen on old TV programs. Our phone number was something like - 49R4. We were on a "party line". If you do not know what that is, ask someone older than you are. When we did get a TV, it had one channel - KGUN, Channel 9, from Tucson. It was a fuzzy picture, but it was pretty amazing. I did not play a video game until I had kids of my own and the first game was "Pong". WOW!

So, since we were so mistreated and denied of the better things, what did we have?

We only had the meadows and forests surrounding our small neighborhood. We had our friends who lived within one block of our house. We had the rope swing in a tall pine tree that our Dad made. We had the ball park nearby. There was the old dump with rusty, old cars from the 1930's and 1940's. We had the wood shed in the back yard where our dog had puppies. We had our 1-speed bikes to ride on the unpaved streets. We had BB guns, bows and arrows (they cost $ .25 each, which we had to earn in order to buy more arrows). There was the old log cabin in a meadow to the west and the area in the forest where we could find pottery. Near the log cabin was a rodeo grounds where a friend and I tried to put out a small forest fire when we were nine. We thought that an army shovel and a canteen with water would make headway in a small brush fire. With those same army shovels, we dug fox holes and tunnels in the meadow behind our home. There was the cattle pond where we hunted the "two-eyed monsters". There was the forest where we made lean-to's out of small trees we chopped down and where we camped out. Our Cub Scout troop met in our neighborhood.

We were terribly neglected. We lived in a small town where most everyone knew most everyone else. Where, even as small boys, we could walk along the highway without any concerns about who might drive by and see us. We had the great outdoors at our front door and we enjoyed it to the fullest extent.

Sonic BOOM and Floaters

Have you ever heard a sonic boom? I imagine you have, but how long has it been since you have heard one? They used to be common, pretty much an every day occurrence. A jet would fly overhead at a speed faster than the speed of sound, causing a sound wave that spread across the surface of the Earth - the sonic boom.

It has been a long time since I have heard one. Rules were passed many years ago to cause jets to fly slower than the speed of sound, over the U.S., so that the boom would not happen.

It seems funny that the boom is one of the things I remember about when I was a little boy. At an age of around four or five, my Mom would call me in from playing, in the middle of the afternoon, to take a nap. It did not matter that I was not sleepy, would not go to sleep, and was not even in her way; I had to lay down and "take a nap". Five minutes before, I was running around the neighborhood, having fun. Now I am supposed to lay still and go to sleep.

I can remember laying on the bed, staring out the window (remember it was a bright, mid-day experience) and there are two things I remember: 1-watching jets fly over and hearing the sonic boom, 2-watching the floaters. By floaters, I do not mean the brown kind, but the kind that drifts across your eye. They look like a piece of dust or very narrow piece of string. I always tried to catch up with them by trying to jerk my eye towards the direction they were drifting, always with no success.

Life was tough back then - wide awake "naps", having to eat vegetables, no TV (yet for us), only three months off for summer break, etc. I just had the best family, good friends, the great outdoors, freedom to develop into a regular boy and experience life in it's fullest form.

Failure IS and Option

Rush Limbaugh is being criticized for stating that he hopes President Obama fails. If you listen to the context of the comments, it is very clear what he meant by that statement.

If you, like Rush and like me, are adamantly opposed to the steps being taken by our new President, you too will want him to fail - to fail at socializing our great nation, to fail at spreading out the wealth (the old Robin Hood syndrome - take it from those who earned it through hard work and pass it out to those who did nothing to deserve it), to fail at nationalizing the banks and auto industry and who knows what next, to fail at establishing a national health care system (destroying in his wake the best medical system in the world), fail at gun control, fail at stopping conservative talk radio (ignoring the first and second amendments to the Constitution), fail at turning our military control over to the United Nations, fail at promoting racial division, fail at promoting class envy, fail at expanding union control over our workforce, fail at further turning our public education system into more of an indoctrination center of our youth, fail at creating the largest spending spree with the most pork projects ever, fail at expanding the national debt so that your kids and grandkids will never be able to pay it off, fail at silencing the voice of opposition, fail at dropping our missile defense program, fail at his plan to weaken our nation and making it more vulnerable to attack, etc.

YES! We want Obama to FAIL. That is the best option for our future.

As the left attacks the right (and I mean that word in all ways you can take it), can you think of any Democrats who have expressed the desire for President Bush to fail at anything? There mush have been at least one...

They Are At War With Us!

The 9-11 Report told us that our enemy was at war with us but we were not at war with them.

I believe that is the case again. The liberals have been at war with conservatives, capitalism, liberty, achievement, prosperity, critical thinking, common sense and the American Dream for several decades. America is being taken down from within, without a shot being fired. We are not defending our nation because we do not realize or acknowledge that we are under attack and at war.

The Two-Eyed Monster

How great it was to be a boy growing up in a small town. My older brother, other neighbor boys, and I would head out into "the woods" to have our daily adventures. As you can see by the photo in my profile, we were heavily armed at a young age. Between the BB guns, sling-shots, pocket knifes, hatchets, bow and arrows, and even crossbows; there were not many things that were safe within a distance of half a mile.

Some of our favorite prey was the "two-eyed monsters" that were in a nearby cattle pond. Just to sit on the bank, gun in the ready position, watching for those double-beady eyes to rise above the surface of the water, was an exciting adventure (and good target practice). To hit a frog, at a distance, when all you see are two eyes, is quite an achievement.

We were very busy during those years, learning and experiencing; being allowed to be boys and deal with the consequences of our actions and enjoy the sense of achievement of our exploits.

It was a great place and time to grow up in an awesome country.

Pants on Fire

Liar, Liar...

About six weeks into the new administration and on an almost daily basis we are seeing one lie exposed after another by our new President.

What happened to all those promises in the campaign: an open and transparent administration, reaching across the aisle for bi-partisan solutions, getting rid of corruption in the administration, no pork-barrel spending or earmarks, no lobbyists in his administration, government must tighten it's belt, going through spending bills on a line-by-line basis to rid it of wasteful spending, etc.

Then there are the promises we wish he had lied about: spreading the wealth around, only government can solve this big of a problem...

He promised "Change", and we are getting it. Too bad no one made him explain what he meant before the election. He also promised "Hope". It's a very good thing that our Hope is not found in Obama or government.

Just how radical is this guy? It appears that by the time we all know the answer to that question; considerable, irreversible damage will already be done.

My Wife

This is the first posting for a category I will call, "My Favorite People". Each one will discuss someone in my life who is special to me. I figured that if I am going to do this, the very first one should be about my wife.

My wife just had her birthday. Even though it is in March, she starts the celebration as soon as Christmas is over. She counts on getting her "birthday check" from her parents each year and starts spending it long before they are thinking about writing it. In fact, it seems as though it gets spent several times over again.

She has a heart as big as anyone that I know and I get a front row seat to watch God use her in various people's lives. Even more, I get to be on the receiving end of amazing love. I tease her, that my goal is to give her everything she wants, but it is probably more true that I come close to getting everything I want.

If you are hurting, you will not find anyone more compassionate. If you are in need, she is ready to give. If you are family or friend, you have a defender. She works hard, gives much, loves much and needs much. That's OK. I get to be the one God uses to help meet her needs. I am blessed to be the husband of my wife! She loves God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. She loves those close to her and especially, she loves me.

Apologies to to the other 49, Congrats to Arizona

In one way, Arizona stood to win whichever candidate won the election for President. If McCain won, we would have a "Republican" for president, but also would get rid of him as our Senator. If Obama won, as it came true, Gov. Janet Napolitano became Secretary of Homeland Security. So, we still have to vote out McCain, but Napolitano is out of here. Congratulations to Arizona and condolences to the other 49 states.

She is a disaster, as you all will soon see for yourselves. You cannot believe anything she says. She did nothing to secure our border with Mexico or curb illegal immigration to Arizona. She fought Sheriff Joe as he arrested illegals. Now, she has just had an interview where she stated that the violence in Mexico has not yet spilled over into our country. I do not know what she called it, but to me it was violence directly related to illegal immigration when Phoenix has become a kidnapping hot spot, multiple home invasions and shootings by illegals, drug violence, human trafficking, illegals killing Phoenix policemen, etc.

In her speech, the other day, until it was criticized for not mentioning 9/11 or terrorists, she had her focus for Homeland Security on issues such as hurricanes. I guess the border is not a security issue for our government. Can you tell me how Homeland Security can protect us from hurricanes. Isn't it the job of FEMA to respond to natural disasters, not Homeland Security?

Any way, Janet, stay away from Arizona. We do not miss you.

Welcome to Christian Conservative Rantings

Welcome to The Housetop. From this vantige point, I will be one more voice that shouts the messages of:

  • a walk with the only true God - led by His only Son, Jesus the Christ;
  • the absolute necessity of the USA being a strong country, based on the original intent of the founding documents, providing for and protecting the rights of the citizens to have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness;
  • the superior political position of being a conservative;
  • and the blessings of family and friends.
