The Point of Conversion

I am going to pose a question to all of you, at what point does conversion take place? When are you Born Again?

The first epistle of John assures us that we can know that we are in Him and He in us.

  1. Well, according to Hebrews 8:10 and 10:16, the NEW Covenant deals with GOD writing His Laws INTO our minds, and UPON our Hearts! That is certainly a supernatural work and would DEFINITELY afford that assurance John writes about!!!

In the Old Covenant, the Laws were written on stone and we were commanded to Keep them, which we could not. BUT something actually a PART of our minds and hearts by the Power of the Holy Spirit...can now be KEPT!!!

I John 5:3 "For this is the love of God, that we KEEP His commandments; and His commandments are NOT BURDENSOME." because they are written in our Hearts and Minds!!! :D

  2. Conversion is like a two-sided coin. Its sides are faith and repentance. The point of conversion is that point when the sinner turns from sin and self, toward God in faith.

  3. Where does the "sinner's prayer" fit into that? Haven't we always heard that when you repeat that prayer, you are "saved"?

  4. Where is that in the Bible?

I like what Wayne said, too. So simple, but True. The turning TOWARD GOD is a MUST...after turning away from Sin!

  5. Especially if you consider that when the Apostle Paul wrote Rom 10:9 (IF YOU CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH JESUS AS LORD, AND BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, YOU SHALL BE SAVED) that "confession" cost the new disciple his or her LIFE!!!

And Paul does follow up with Romans 10:10...indicating that true conversion results in "Righteousness"!
