War Journal - Jan. 5, 1945

Friday
Had pretty weather today after snow yesterday. The runway is solid ice & is pretty hazardous. We bombed road junctions about 20 miles northeast of Bastonge helping Patton to seal off the German salient. It was pathfinder & clear weather so they shot the hell out of us. I saw several ships disappear smoking. We received several holes & part of the electrical system shot out. Two Comp. B Bombs failed to drop. One was hanging loose inside. It was necessary to defuse them. I aged ten years screwing the first one out wondering if they were booby trapped. I'm still here so they weren't!
